I’m Nadia, nice to meet you!

Originally from Bulgaria, a few years ago I relocated to Gibraltar for my work. I liked it here and decided to stay – so here I am today, a half-Bulgarian, half-Gibbo, but very much a citizen of the world.

I share my life with Gareth, my significant other, and our two bunnies – Buttons and Pretzel. We are usually surrounded by family and friends, and we couldn’t love our life more.

When I am not baking or working, you can find me at a scouts meeting – I am a scout leader in charge of Beavers, the youngest, most impressionable girl- and boy scouts of Gib – or hiking the Rock.

NADIA THE BAKER: THE EARLY YEARS

My baking obsession started back home with a simple cupcake recipe I got from a coworker. It wasn’t anything special at first – just some yummy cupcakes with store-bought frosting, nothing special, really. Later on, I started pimping the base of the recipe, adding a little twist here and there, experimenting with frosting and icing, adding sprinkles for extra fun and so on.

I shared by bakes with friends and co-workers, and the more they enjoyed them, the more I enjoyed baking, until one day I realised that I may be an account manager by profession, but I am a baker at heart.

My baking and decoration skills grew by the day, and so did my equipment – which lead me to sign up Gibraltar national TV’s Christmas Bake-Off in 2013. Not only did I participate in the show, but I also won it. My friends and family couldn’t be prouder – or so they claim!

I hope to have my own cupcake truck one day – who knows, perhaps some time in the near future you will see me driving a (pink?) truck around Gibraltar, spreading around sugary goods and happiness.
